Accountants for Law Firms
Written and reviewed by the Legal Accountants editorial team. Last reviewed 28 July 2026.
We act for law firms as businesses: the firm's accounts and tax, the members' personal positions, the client account and its rules, and the decisions about how the firm is structured and owned. Partnerships, LLPs and incorporated firms alike.
Fixed fee, agreed before we begin, with nothing charged until you approve it.
What We Handle
The firm's annual accounts and partnership or company tax return, the partners' or members' personal tax on their profit shares, and the client-account and Accounts Rules side where the firm holds client money, through to getting ready for the annual report.
We also run the structure comparison, partnership versus LLP versus company, on the firm's real figures, and handle a change of structure end to end where it is worth making.
Where Firm Work Gets Awkward
A law firm carries three things a normal business does not all at once: client money and its regulation, tax-transparent members taxed on profit as it arises, and the tax-year basis reshaping partner tax. Miss any one and the firm or its partners pay for it.
Because this is the work here, those are not special cases. We keep the client account compliant through the year, get the members' tax right on the current basis, and keep the structure under review as the firm grows.
How It Runs
You tell us how the firm is owned and set up and what is outstanding, and send the records we ask for once. We do the work, show you and the partners the numbers, and file once approved. Identity checks first. Most firms take the ongoing service so the client account and the tax stay current.
Where a firm is behind, on the accounts, the tax or the client account, we get it straight first and then keep it that way.
What It Costs
A fixed fee agreed before work starts, sized to the firm: the number of partners or members, whether client money and a report are involved, and the structure. We tell you the all-in picture, not just a headline, before you commit.
To get a price, tell us about the firm and we will come back with a fixed quote and a deadline.
